1. Members must be 18 years of age or older to borrow tools;
2. Only Members are authorised to use Library tools. Members should not permit the use of Library items by any non-member;
3. The tools in our collection may not be used for any trade, business, rental, or commercial purposes;
4. Members accept responsibility for the tools in their possession and, by taking possession of them, confirm that they are capable of using them in a safe and proper manner;
5. All tools will be checked before loan and power tools will be fully PAT tested. Members agree that the Tool Library is not responsible for any manufacturing, material, or quality of workmanship defects of borrowed tools;
6. Members agree that if any borrowed tool becomes unsafe or in a state of disrepair, they must immediately discontinue use of the tool and notify the Library of the issue on return;
7. All tools are to be returned in the same condition as they were issued, barring normal wear and tear. All tools must be returned clean;
8. Members agree to check they are happy with the condition of tools before taking them on loan;
9. Tools may be borrowed for a period of 5 days. All tools borrowed are to be returned to the Library by 9pm on the Tuesday of the loan period. Tools may only be returned to the greenhouses at Mareel, during the Library's opening hours (see schedule);
9. Please be aware that other people may be waiting to borrow the tools you have, please be considerate and return items on time. If you can’t make it to return your tools please get in touch with us: toollibrary@shetlandarts.org
Late fees are £3/week per power tool and £1/week per hand tool, paid via your account on Myturn. Late fees will be capped at the cost of replacing that tool;
10. The Library will run initially from the greenhouse in the car park at Mareel. In the case of extreme weather and the cover being installed over the greenhouse, the lending schedule will be suspended until weather permits the re-opening of the greenhouse.
